Let's Talk Travel

I graduated in ’93 from college, and my wife had graduated in ’92, so she was a year ahead of me. I wanted to travel. We lived in New York, and I got this bug — I wanted to live in Florida. So I thought, why not have a travel agency pay our moving expenses?

That was a struggle for me because I’d only been working as an RN for about eight months. The rule at the time — and rightfully so — was that you had to have been a nurse for at least a year before you could take a travel assignment because your orientation as a traveler is minimal. However, I talked them into it, and off we went.

Long story short: I don’t want to turn this into an autobiography, but I ended up doing travel assignments off and on — mostly on — for the next 25 years. I got licensed in a whole pile of states. If you want to see all my licenses, you’re welcome to look me up, look yourself up, or look up anyone you want here: https://www.nursys.com/.

I didn’t work in every state that I got licensed in — there were a couple of states I got licensed in planning to go, but never did. But I did work in New Hampshire, Florida, NY, Ohio, Minnesota, Nevada, California, Arizona, and Hawaii.

The point is that over the years, I remember a few travel-related stories I’d love to share — and I’d love to hear your stories or questions about traveling or whatever. Let’s talk about it.
